Terms of Service

MoonCats is a shared record of pet care. It is not veterinary advice, it does not decide what to give your animal, and you can take your records out at any time.

Draft — this page is not finished. The legal name, address, contact and other operator details below are placeholders until they are filled in.

1. Who these terms are with

MoonCats is operated by [TODO operator legal name], [TODO operator registered address]. For questions about these terms, contact [TODO operator contact email].

By creating a MoonCats account, or by accepting an invitation to join a household, you agree to these terms.

2. What MoonCats is

A tool for a household to record and coordinate pet care: medications, doses, tasks, weights, vet records, journal and expenses.

3. What MoonCats is not — read this one

Not veterinary advice, not a diagnostic tool, and not a safety device. It does not decide what to give, how much, or when. It does not evaluate whether a dose is safe or whether two doses are correctly spaced.

Specifically: the dose lockout prevents the same scheduled dose from being logged twice; it does not prevent double-dosing in general. Decisions about your animal's treatment are yours and your veterinarian's.

4. Eligibility

You must meet the minimum age below to create a MoonCats account: [TODO minimum age requirement].

5. Accounts

One account per person, with your own credentials. You are responsible for keeping them secure and for activity under your account.

6. Households, roles and ownership

A household is the unit. Owners can manage members and roles, edit or delete the household, and transfer ownership. Admins can invite and remove ordinary members and edit the household profile. Members participate fully but cannot manage membership.

Every household must have at least one owner at all times. Actions that would leave it without one are refused.

7. Care-share links

Owners and admins can create read-only links lasting between one and ninety days. Anyone holding the link can read the care sheet until it expires or is revoked. You are responsible for who you send it to.

8. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Access, or attempt to access, another household's data.
  • Use automated tools to scrape the service.
  • Interfere with rate limits or other security controls.
  • Post or store unlawful content.

9. Your content

You keep ownership of everything you log. You grant MoonCats only the licence needed to store, process and display it — to your household, to anyone you choose to share a care-share link with, and to you in the exports and reports you request — and to operate, back up and secure the service.

10. Availability and change

The service is provided as it is today. No uptime commitment is made. Features can change. Where a change removes something people rely on, it is announced first.

11. Pricing

MoonCats is free today and has no billing system. If a paid plan is introduced, its terms will be published on Pricing before it takes effect. The household JSON export and the vet report remain free.

12. Termination

You can delete your account at any time, immediately and irreversibly, as described in the Privacy Policy and on the account deletion page.

We may suspend or terminate an account for violating the acceptable-use terms above, for activity that puts the service or other households at risk, or as required by law.

13. Disclaimers and limitation of liability

Pending legal review
This section — the limits on MoonCats' liability — needs to be drafted by the operator's legal adviser before this page can be published. It must stay consistent with §3 above and must not contradict what the dose lockout does or claim protections that have not been verified.

14. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the law of [TODO governing law / jurisdiction].

15. Changes to these terms

If these terms change, the update is published on this page and the effective date below is updated. Material changes are announced through the product.

These terms took effect on [TODO effective date].
